Frequently Asked VAT Questions

How do you calculate 15% VAT in Saudi Arabia?▼

To add 15% VAT to a net amount: multiply by 0.15 (e.g. 1,000 × 0.15 = 150 SAR), giving a gross total of 1,150 SAR. To extract VAT from a gross amount: divide by 1.15 (1,150 ÷ 1.15 = 1,000 SAR net).

How to extract VAT from a gross price that already includes it?▼

The formula is: Net Amount = Gross Amount ÷ (1 + Tax Rate / 100). For instance, with 5% VAT (UAE & Oman) and a gross total of 1,050 AED: 1,050 ÷ 1.05 = 1,000 AED net, and VAT is 50 AED.

Is there VAT in Kuwait or Qatar?▼

As of 2026, neither Kuwait nor Qatar imposes a standard VAT. Invoices in these countries are issued with 0% tax.

Why do Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman require 3 decimal places?▼

Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD) and Bahraini Dinar (BHD) are divided into 1,000 fils, while Omani Rial (OMR) is divided into 1,000 baisa. Standard invoices must accurately display 3 decimal places (e.g., 25.500), which Isal natively supports.

Can I use this calculator for countries outside the GCC?▼
